About
Thanks for stopping by. My name is Paul Misner, and I’m the Sr. Federal Civilian Account Manager for Websense. Smartchive.com originally was a site where I promoted technology news, much related to the products that I was selling, and also pertaining to issues related to the Federal Sector. My company has asked me to shut down the original site, and have agreed to give me a soapbox on a new official Federal Portal.
This site originally started as a bunch of bookmarks on my browser. I’ve been wanting to go back to school and get my MBA for a while, but my schedule doesn’t really give me much time. I’m a big fan of self education, and I’ve decided to do the work necessary on my own to approximate an MBA. Don’t laugh- I did the same thing, pre-Internet, before my undergraduate degree from Wharton. When I finally was blessed with the opportunity to go to school, I knocked it out of the park.
The hardest part for me was finding a directed path. Getting an MBA requires higher level study in a number of disciplines. The information is largely here, on the Internet. The problem is, how to get the balance you’d get in a structured program.
I found out about www.personalmba.com , and fell in love with this website. At last, an organized structure to follow to get a faux MBA. I read a lot of the books, but felt the site was missing out on a major opportunity.
In addition to books, there is a lot of great, free material, on the Internet. Not just papers, but lectures, podcasts, video, and interviews. I said to myself, why can’t we take advantage of this stuff too.
So, here’s how I classify stuff. I have two classifications for every entry, one on topic, and one on type. So if you are going on a trip, and you want to download some podcasts, you can go to that section and download. If you want to study a certain discipline, you can do that as well, by clicking on the topic.
I know the descriptions are thin right now, please feel to add, make comments, pitch in. I’d love that. The Internet can be a lonely place.
I’ll keep adding to the site. And I hope you find some value here.
